Hoffman Estates May 22, 2008 - MABAS Division 1 Dive Certifications

Hoffman Estates Fire Department, MABAS Division 1 and Dive Rescue International were the hosts today for training and dive certification in Max McGraw Wildlife Reserve. This training was for every aspect of handling a situation like this, from the rescue and recovery ops, to dealing with the sometimes pesky media. ;-)
The situation as we were briefed was that a 76 yr. old man and his 23 yr. old son were fishing when they fell out of the boat at 2 different locations. The man's wife was there to help give some direction to firefighters, as was a witness.
Myself and a videographer for the City of Hoffman Estates were asked to "role play" as the media, complete with trying to sneak in for pictures and story information. I was tossed out on several occasions. lol!
