ALITHFPD New Training Trailer - May 10, 2012
Algonquin - Lake In The Hills Fire Protection District took deliver this morning of their new training trailer designed by Assistant Chief of Operations, Tim Littlefield and purchased with funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance To Firefighters Grant Program. I'll have a more detailed breakdown of it's functions and operations but I can tell you that I've seen nothing like this anywhere in Illinois! With Infra-red camera's located throughout the trailer, every facet of training operations can be monitored from the control room. Someone had the smoke generator on and it wasn't long before the trailer filled. Just as fast, (probably faster) the smoke can be ejected through an exhaust fan located at the rear of the unit.
I have to admit when I was asked to help with this, I had no idea the scope and intensity that this would have in the end result. This thing is impressive to say the least and of the 3 names on this trailer that will be around for a long time helping train our Firefighters, Elginet Media is one of them. ;-) Also thanks to Matt Diamond for his help in putting us all together to make this as cool as it is! ( I'll have some quick video up later tonight! )
