South Elgin MABAS 2, 2nd Alarm residential fire - Jan. 20, 2011

Smoke was pushing heavy through the eaves of a single-story home on Gale Street in unincorporated Elgin. The area, although right behind Elgin Fox Theaters, falls into South Elgin Fire Protection District. Conditions around the fire were hazardous due to ice. While I was there, I saw at least 4 firefighters fall (in full gear) and 2 who almost went down. One firefighter was injured in a fall and had to be transported from the scene to St. Joseph's for non-life-threatening injuries.
