Rutland-Dundee Dive Box in Gilberts - May 11, 2011
A passer-by on Big Timber Rd. just west of Tyrall, thought they saw someone in a pond trying to hang on to the side, unable to get out of the water. Upon arrival of the Rutland-Dundee Chief, there was no one visible in or near the water. Erring on the side of caution, the chief pulled a MABAS Division 2 Dive Box Alarm calling for boats and divers from surrounding towns.
Nothing was detected by a side-scan sonar device that Carpentersville Fire Department has specialized training in using, nor by divers from the Elgin Fire Department who were in the water searching as well.
It's been a long day for firefighters in the area today.
