Caledonia Tornado Aftermath - Nov. 23, 2010
This is just a small (3 block) portion of the damaged area in Calendonia as seen early this afternoon. A great story, when hearing about the neighbors helping neighbors side of it. The home in the beginning set of pics, had people all over helping get salvagable personal belongings out of the home and separated from the debris. The people helping....were friends and coworkers of the homeowner from local Alpine Bank of Rockford.
Some of these pics show the hidden dangers in storms like these, particularly the one where a relatively small branch.....is sticking straight up through a roof. You have to sit back for a sec, and think about the force it took to plant it there.
And then in front of the same home, was a 2x4 about 8 ft. long, snapped at the bottom and as pointed as you can get without getting your knive out and wittling it down a bit more.
It's amazing that there were no fatalities in all this damage. Equally amazing, is how we in the Elgin area, continue to skate the serious storms like this. Our turn is coming.........I'm sure..
