Pingree Grove Residential 3-Alarm Fire - Feb. 23, 2010
4 Residents escape blaze! Residential fire on the North end of Pingree Grove's district this morning started in the garage as the homeowner was working on a grinder while restoring a 1959 Chevy Apache truck. The sparks from the grinder may have ignited some materials, as well as fumes in the air. He immediately got his wife and 2 children out of the house and called 911. Pingree Grove quickly elevated this to a MABAS Box, and then in a short while, went to a 3rd alarm. The homeowner suffered burns to one hand, no other injuries were reported.
This was a tender operation since there were no hydrants in the area. Assisting departments were: Rutland-Dundee, Hampshire, Huntley, Hoffman Estates, West Dundee, East Dundee, Carpentersville, Pingree Grove, St. Charles, Elburn, Elgin, Burlington, South Elgin, Bartlett, Cary and Genoa-Kingston.
