DeKalb MABAS Div. 6, Multi-divisionable Box Alarm - July 21, 2010
After a couple of hours of letting it burn, DeKalb Fire Department was finally able to extinguish the tank of asphalt oil and save the surrounding structures. A 3rd MABAS Interdivisional Box Alarm was also called bringing resources from surrounding counties and cities.
The crash truck was brought in from DeKalb Airport because of it's ability to deal with petroleum fires. I believe this is what finally was able to put the fire out but once that was over, a large quantity of another flammable liquid was exposed and a HAZMAT Box Alarm was called out to deal with it and it's containment. It was not on fire however.
Firefighters are still on the scene and will be for some time.
