Bartlett FPD MABAS Box Residential Fire - March 30, 2010
A residential fire on Bartlett's FPD's south end this morning warranted a 1st level MABAS box because it was in an area where there were no hydrants.
Firefighters had several obsticles to overcome immediately upon arrival, water being one of them and the homeowners ammunition that was stored in his garage, as the second. First responders were trying to move some vehicles along with the help of the home owner and a neighbor but were unable to find the keys. While doing that, ammunition started popping in the garage and though it's not a terribly dangerous thing, it could be.
It took firefighters about an hour or so to get a knock on the fire with the help of about 15 surrounding departments. (When I get a list, I'll post it. ;-)
No one was injured, but the home and several vehicles, including a motorhome parked next to the garage was completely destroyed.
