Bartlett - April 4, 2007 Mercedes in lake
2am this morning, a man driving a newer Mercedes CL600, fell asleep behind the wheel and ran off the roadon Rt. 20, landing in this pond. Luckily he wasn't injured.
It took divers from Bartlett and South Elgin Fire Departments 2+ hours in freezing cold (28°), not to mention near-freezing water temperatures to rig the car so it could be pulled out. Add to that a stiff 15-20mph wind and you have the makings of a pretty miserable vehicle recovery operation.
