It's Prom season and Carpentersville Fire Department, along with students, nurses and the Illinois State Police put on a demonstration of what happens when you drink and drive. Complete with movie-quality special effects administered by area nurses, the kids looked and acted out the parts well, right down to one student who was pronounced dead on the scene and removed in a body bag by the funeral home Herse.

Some kids had to be cut out of their vehicles by FD personnel and others weren't injured too bad. Very much a like life-like situation and at times, unnerving. Any parents that were there in the crowd, at some point during the demonstration had to have a chill run up their spine knowing that this could indeed happen to one of our children. It's not always the kids drinking who end up the victims.....sometimes just being on the road on Prom Night is all it takes.
